Bloom where you are planted

I've always loved this quote from Mary Engelbreit and I'm so happy to be able to use it on a scrapping page.

This is the page I made for the lastest "swim lesson" over at scrapable. The lesson was teaching us how to use templates. Although this is a basic skill in digiscrapping, I didn't know how to do it yet.

I'm at a bit of a disadvantage because I don't use photoshop. I use GIMP. I use GIMP because I like it, I've downloaded the free trial of Photoshop Elements and I have to say, I think GIMP is better. So for any of you out there interested in getting started in digiscrapping, go download GIMP and get started, it's FREE! So...back to what I was saying about being at a disadvantage.....that only thing about using GIMP that seems to be a problem is all of the tutorials are for Photoshop. Very few digiscrappers use GIMP so if you have a question or want to learn something new it's a bit harder to get started.

There are a couple of ladies over at Scrapable using GIMP and they posted some awesome sites with GIMP info.

This is a great GIMP site, check it out!

After all that, here is my page! My first attempt at a template. Result: cute page done very quickly!

New Los

I signed up for "Swim Lessons" over at Scrapable and these are my Lesson 1 pages. The first one was to create a basic page with some basic instructions. Just getting started with digiscrapping kinda thing. The second page is a scraplift of a page they gave us to work from. I'm excited to learn a lot of new things this summer with this class. Fun, fun!

I killed 2 birds with one stone, these are also CT pages for Teri. I used Teri's Thing o My Jigs and Stacey Crossley's Thursdays's Child for both pages. The cousins page has word art from Elegant Word Art.

Grace Month 12

Over at Scrapable.net I've been participating in their forums a little bit. This is a first for me. They have challenges and contests running all the time. I decided to do this challenge, it's called a Black and White Blast technique. Instead of taking a picture and simply desaturating it to make it black and white. You do that, then play with the contrast and brightness a little to make the picture pop. I LOVE the result. I'm glad I participated in this contest and I know I'll be doing a lot more in the future. Plus, an added bonus is you get a point for each challenge you complete and when you get enough points you get money to spend at their store! Can't go wrong there!!

I've been WAAAY too busy lately to do much scrappin' but I took a little break from it all to make a couple pages with Teri's new kit. I loved it so much I had to use it right away. It just hit the stores TODAY!!
