Week 14
Better late than never, right! I've been keeping up with the photography side of Project 365, but the scrapping has fallen very short! But I'm on a mission to get my pages caught up, so be prepared to see lots of P365 pages in the near future!

Bloom where you are planted
I've always loved this quote from Mary Engelbreit and I'm so happy to be able to use it on a scrapping page.
This is the page I made for the lastest "swim lesson" over at scrapable. The lesson was teaching us how to use templates. Although this is a basic skill in digiscrapping, I didn't know how to do it yet.
I'm at a bit of a disadvantage because I don't use photoshop. I use GIMP. I use GIMP because I like it, I've downloaded the free trial of Photoshop Elements and I have to say, I think GIMP is better. So for any of you out there interested in getting started in digiscrapping, go download GIMP and get started, it's FREE! So...back to what I was saying about being at a disadvantage.....that only thing about using GIMP that seems to be a problem is all of the tutorials are for Photoshop. Very few digiscrappers use GIMP so if you have a question or want to learn something new it's a bit harder to get started.
There are a couple of ladies over at Scrapable using GIMP and they posted some awesome sites with GIMP info.
This is a great GIMP site, check it out!
After all that, here is my page! My first attempt at a template. Result: cute page done very quickly!

New Los
I signed up for "Swim Lessons" over at Scrapable and these are my Lesson 1 pages. The first one was to create a basic page with some basic instructions. Just getting started with digiscrapping kinda thing. The second page is a scraplift of a page they gave us to work from. I'm excited to learn a lot of new things this summer with this class. Fun, fun!
I killed 2 birds with one stone, these are also CT pages for Teri. I used Teri's Thing o My Jigs and Stacey Crossley's Thursdays's Child for both pages. The cousins page has word art from Elegant Word Art.

Grace Month 12
Over at Scrapable.net I've been participating in their forums a little bit. This is a first for me. They have challenges and contests running all the time. I decided to do this challenge, it's called a Black and White Blast technique. Instead of taking a picture and simply desaturating it to make it black and white. You do that, then play with the contrast and brightness a little to make the picture pop. I LOVE the result. I'm glad I participated in this contest and I know I'll be doing a lot more in the future. Plus, an added bonus is you get a point for each challenge you complete and when you get enough points you get money to spend at their store! Can't go wrong there!!

A little CT Scrappin'
Here are 2 pages I made with Teri's kit called School's Out 4 Summer. It's on sale at Scrapable and Pretty Scrappy. It's more of a graduation kit, but I picked and choose the elements to make it work for pics I had. For those of you who have a Kindergarten Grad, or a Highschool or College Grad, go check it out!

Project 365
So how many of you out there started project 365 and have fallen off the bandwagon???
Surprisingly I've kept up with the picture taking, it's the scrapping that's fallen WAAAAAY behind. But I know I'll catch up. I took a 2 week break from the picture taking, but I had good reason. I figured the book is only for my family and I, and if I don't care I'm missing 2 weeks, no big deal, right? (it actually does bug me that I'll have 2 missing pages, but 2 missing is better than just quitting, right!??)
So, to all of you that started out the year doing Project 365, if you've fallen behind, just start back up with today! You can do it! Just think how happy you'll be when the year is over, your book is finished, and you have this awesome book recounting your past year.
In case you're wondering, yes, this is a pep talk to myself to keep me on the ball! :)

Mister Pister, Toolman, Stinker
I've been working on Grace's first year book, so poor Austin has been neglected in the scrapping-ness :) Here is finally a page for him. I found a PERFECT kit for him. The kit is called Daddy's little helper, the TOU wasn't included in the element pack I downloaded so unfortunately I don't know who made it...if anyone out there knows please let me know and I'll update the credits. The teal paper from Circle of Life by Stacey @ Scrap that idea but everything else is from Daddy's little helper.

Uh oh
I haven't scrapped a single thing in quite a while....go look at my last post, April something or other, that's the last thing I've done. So I sat down at my laptop during nap time today, tried to scrap....no go. I didn't even save what I worked on, 3 separate pages down the drain. Ok, no big deal, I haven't done this in a while I'm just a little rusty. Well, tonight I tried again, I even have a brand new super cute kit of Teri's to work with....um....nothing. I tried scraplifting several pages I found and love just as a starting point and I couldn't do anything I even remotely liked.
So we've all heard of writer's block, I have scrapper's block it seems.
Hopefully I'll be back in the swing of things soon!!

Pretty little angel eyes
This is the kind of page I often see in digiscrap galleries. Lots of white space, clustered elements, a title and one single picture. When I started digiscrapping I wasn't a fan of these kind of pages at all but they have grown on me. For the most part I make pages to showcase the most number of pictures. I have the intention of printing all of my pages into books some day and the pictures are what I'm interested in, not only the elements and papers, no matter how cute or pretty they are. But, I do like to change things up every once in a while.
And, it turns out I really like this page.

Summer Baby
I love working with all the fun springy and summery kits that are coming out right now. I started digiscrapping in the winter and the kits that were new then weren't as exciting to me. I love colors, bright fun elements, little birdies, bugs and flowers.

College Station, TX
So...I have this handy little thing on the side of my website called Feedjit. It tells me who is coming to my blog. I love it because most of you guys don't leave me comments, but I can see you came and checked things out. I can normally guess who you are by your location....but who are you College Station??? I have a bunch of guesses, and any of them make me smile but I really want to know!!!

Week 11 Scrapped
This was made using a QP I made with Teri's Bee Attitudes Kit for a QP album. So all the work was already done, all I had to do today was drop in the pictures!
WOW! 3 pages in one day....ummmm.....maybe I should go get some packing done or something productive?!!!? In my defense, I worked my buns off yesterday, I did a zillion things this morning and both kiddos have had nice long naps today...and yep, I did nothing but scrap during nap time! I hear the boy stirring....gonna run.

(Not Really) Roughing It
I did this page last night for a speed scrap with a bunch of ladies from a message board I am a member of. It was the first time I've actually finished a speed scrap. My computer or program I use to scrap with usually freezes about 85% of the way through the page and I end up stressed, sweaty and with no finished page to show for it all. BUT! I prevailed! I was able to finish my page last night.
I was thinking, speed scraps shouldn't be called speed scraps exactly. At least the ones I've participated in, they last 1-2 hours, sometimes more. I don't know about the average scrapper, but I can guess they do it faster than that. I know I do. A normal page for me is about 30 minutes, I have finished one in about 15 minutes a time or two and at most it's an hour. If it takes much longer than that I normally just give up and start over later. I think speed scraps should be called Challenge Scraps. They always make me go out of my comfort zone and do something I wouldn't normally.
Anyhoo....here is my page

Grace 10 months
I've been on a roll today! These pages haven't taken me more than about 15 minutes!
Another kit by Designs by Krista. This one is called Blossom. I've never used black before. It always seemed to harsh for a baby girl's book but I had fun trying it out and I actually like the way it looks. I don't think I'll get in the habit of using black but I do like it occasionally.
Hmmm
I just realized something, I am stuck on 4 picture layouts. Go back to the last several pages I've made, most of them have one main picture then 3 supporting ones. I need to make sure I do something different next time.
My favorite way to get inspiration for a page is to go check out galleries of scrappers I really love and get ideas from their pages. There are so many really talented scrappers out there. So, if you're stuck in a rut (as I am, it seems!) go to a gallery, try DigiShop Talk or any other one you like. Look at recent pages uploaded and I'm sure you'll find something you love!

I answered a one kit CT call for this kit. What a fun way to do it! This was my first one kit CT call. For all you non digiscrappers, that's just where you answer a request by a designer to make a page or two for them using their kit. You get the kit for free and you make a page for them to help promote their new kit. It's good for everyone!

Amazing little Grace
This is a coordinating page for the previous page I uploaded. This page was also done using Teri and Stacey's Tuesday's Child kit. It's a very pretty kit, with many choices, I could make many many pages with it I'm sure!
It's fun going back and seeing newborn pictures of Grace. She looks so different, yet still exactly the same to me.

Taking it all in
This was my first real attempt at doing an extraction. I'm pretty happy with it. It wasn't too hard though because the fence had so many straight lines, and because Austin is wearing a hat I didn't have to deal with a bumpy head. Many extractions I see the person's head looks strange. I'm sure it's hard to deal with hair. I was reading a tutorial for extracting thin or transparent things such as hair, it seemed pretty complex, I think I'll stay away from things like that for a while still.

Bad Hairday
I was just going through some folders cleaning things a bit and I found this page I never quite finished. I adjusted a few edges and here we go!
The credits will follow, I used a bunch of different kits and since I did it several weeks ago, it will take me some digging to find it all. The majority is from Calalily Girl Power, I know I used Sunporch from Shabby princess, and the font is Just Because by Shel Belle Scraps.
Makin' music in the kitchen
This is a LO I did for Teri's CT using her Bee Attitudes kit. It started as one of my very first quick pages. Once I had the QP just as I wanted it, I plopped in the pictures and Voila! I was done.
I love the page itself, but I don't think the pictures are perfect for it. That's a big reason I never use quick pages. I like to build the page around my pictures so it all flows together.
Cute page, cute pictures, I'm just not sure they're right for each other.

Irish Eyes are Smiling
On St. Patricks's Day, everyone feels a little Irish. Our family has more that just a little Irish heritage, but not enough I don't think to say, "We're Irish". Not that it matters, Happy St. Patrick's Day to all! Don't forget to wear green on Tuesday, you don't want to get pinched!

If Gracie could talk
Wow....three pages in one day. I've really been on a roll, either that or neglecting my kids. Haha...um...yeah. No actually, the pages I did today just flew, maybe the fastest ones I've ever done. Mike is playing guitar hero and I've been enjoying a little scrapping time. Nice way to spend a quiet evening.
This page makes me laugh a little. Grace is such a sweet little thing and really loves her brother. When I look at this series of pictures I wonder if this really is what she would be saying.

Batter Up!
Here are my first pages made for Teri's Thing-o-my-jigs CT! I am so excited to get started working on her kits.
These pictures were taken just a couple days ago. We had one really warm day that we took advantage of by going to the park with a bunch of friends. One of the other little boys brought a ball and bat and Austin took right to it!
